This website has nothing to do with the author of the book The House on Mango Street. This website was created solely for a college class.
Ms. Gay, on this page, I would have sections of dialogue available where the students could have conversations as Esperanza or some of the other characters. They could insert a sentence and I would write back. Alternately, they could pick a character and a classmate could be another character and they could hold a conversation. This would allow them to study the characters in greater depth. Of course, I would check the website often to make sure the content of the conversations matched the characters involved. This would also inspire the students to think about what they would write for their final paper.
